  16. The Soviets isn't a nationality, is it? The civil war - do you mean the revolution of 'red' Russians (bolsheviks) and the opposition of the 'white' (ex-tsarist) ? Then eg Great Britain , France and American troops fought along the white (you couldn't expect it from Central Powers). Russia's ongoing aggression isn't civil war.

  28. "Undefeateable" lost Crimean war in 19th century, the war against Japan in 1905 (Tsushima), WW1(!), first Chechen war 1996, just as last examples. Apart of that, the Soviet Union lost some wars, last one the withdrawal from Afghanistan (before its collapse).

I'm sure China is going to squeeze Russia "hanging on" as long as it's interesting for them, not for Russia. What are the "thriving" parts of economy that can be turned into war production ? 3. The economy factor depends also on aid from other countries, not only investment. I'd say the foreign investment in Russia looks also bleak.
