They were drinking as always. And all they ever did when they drank was argue and fight. The evidence in trial showed this, video and after video. I don't believe for one minute they were suddenly being "happy" drunks and just playing an innocent game of hide and seek. Especially with the video during his murder of her (surprise) berating and taunting him. She did all this intentionally. Probably forced him to get in with more of her threats and abuse.
