  13.  @happydays4302 I like your humanity and desire to see the best in people. Of course there are Palestinians who are available to make peace and Israelis who are not. But please- please- don't underestimate the sheer hate and malevolence embodied by the Palestinian leadership- After 67 when this became Israel's problem, the borders were wide open. There was free passage for work and play and a huge amount of good hearted interaction between Israelis and Arabs from former Jordan and Egypt.(now identifying as palestinians). Yasser Arafat was employed by the Soviet Union to break up the party. He and a then small group of followers ceaselessly employed suicide bombers and other means to disrupt the peace. His leadership included filling schools with antisemitic curricula similar to other Arab states, and generally urging it's population toward jihad. He had been kicked out of Jordan in 72 for the same behaviour after attempting to assassinate king Hussein. Israel finally had enough following the second antifada- an orchestrated violence campaign that killed 1000 Israelis even as he talked of peace and shook Rabins hand at Camp David. That is what led to the border closings and the Palestinians have been isolated and repressed by their own leadership since, while being whipped into a violent hatred, now for decades. Hamas came to power due to Arafats percieved corruption (he ciphered a billion into his accounts while palestinians went without basic services) You have to feel for the Palestinian people who were left with so few choices. Hamas literally has in its charter the aim of violently and completely destroying Israel and building an Islamist state on its rubble. Please. I used to feel the same way, that there was a moral equivalency and people all just want the best for themselves. Jihadists are not like that at all. Please do not underestimate the malevolence and sheer dishonesty that has been at the helm of the Palestinians for 50 years, nor its effect on its hapless victim populace over all that time. The problem is way worse than I suspect you think, I'm very unhappy to tell you. Happy Thanksgiving, and very best to you. (Read "Russian footprints" by defected Soviet General Ion Mihai Pacepa. He had a hands on relationship with Arafat for this purpose)

  21. BBC you are an embarassment. Britain has had its own issues with terrorism. Youd think BBC would take that into account when it tells a story. But even after 1000 israeli civilians were murderered in their homes, by people up close, hands on. Many of them dying cruelly. Babies found decapitated. And still even at this time, you still cant rip yourself away not even for a minute from your 'sympathy for palestinian' 'pro palestine' agenda. It doesnt seem to matter to you that the enemy of both Israelis and Palestinians is the Islamist Jihadis running the show and destroying both of their lives. I dont think youre willing to face it, even though thats whats needed to help palestinians. You turn out to hate Israel more than you care about Palestinians. And so you continue to try to weaken it and destroy its legitimacy. Emboldening the jihadists who abuse the sympathy you generate, and the animosity for israel you create, you aid in creating the misery felt by human beings on both sides. How could you do this now though. Have you no humanity at all? For enabling the confidence of the Jihadists ruining the lives of both Isrselis and palestinians, you BBC have blood on your hands. I sort of hope that one day the people responsible for your editing and producing will find themselves in need of protection from the sort of people theyve enabled. I hope they get to see it up close with their own lives on the line. And that their survival depends on the way theyve chosen to treat this up until now. Just disgusting. No words for it.

  37.  @happydays4302  the usual media and political response to Israel typically is a backhanded compliment, insult by omission or implied equivalency, coupled with an absolute lack of awareness of context. The fact that most people feel there is a moral equivalency between the two, and worse- that Israel is a colonial state, an 'aparthied state' and that it actually deserves this- that's the constant argument from people which suggests the media has not been successful at conveying the truths of the matter. I certainly never heard any politician or media outlet suggesting Israel does no wrong- mostly I hear or understand the opposite -in ways direct or veiled. I agree with you that the cost of the animosity has been huge (though very small and tame compared to the brutality and scale of myriad other conflicts around even now- Isis activity anywhere it still exists (read about the yazidi genocide and the rape and sale of its women and girls in markets, North Iraq) Assad's murder of millions of his own people, many by gas, just a few hundred km away in Syria. 5 Million killed in DRC. Widespread butchering of civilians in Yemen by Iranian backed Houthis. Massive sectarian brutality and casualties happen throughout the mideast- Murder of 100k Christians per year in the mid East and Africa. Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabab in Somalia, etc etc etc - throw a dart. All of these are far far bigger in scope and brutality than any war or action Israel has ever been a part of. The bizarre hyperfocus on Israel is another aspect of it's unfair treatment at the hands of the media - not just the defacto apology offered to the jihadist extremists who drive this conflict forward as with most of the other conflicts I mentioned. Check out two things that might help: A speech by Mosab Hassan Youssef before the UN. (On unwatch.org) he's the son of Hamas founder and he tore a strip off dictators who enable people like his father to create chaos and destroy the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis. (It's 2 mins long) And check out reports and interviews by the Generals of the High Level Military Group, about their analysis of the last Gaza conflict. Like you I wish for peace for all. For the well being of the Palestinians as much as the Israelis, it's important for people to understand the true nature of this conflict, and that can't be casually found in almost any mainstream media. Take good care.
