Yeah I did get a Sears CC some years ago, but I only got it to get the intro coupon on some clothes I was buying then have only used it since on buying things that they gave me other cash back offers and statement credits for and always pay it off in full. Having high interest CCs like that is a real risk and you must be disciplined to have them. ALWAYS pay those ones off every month and never put too much on them in any one month! I did just use mine for some future travel purchases, but I'm still paying it all off this month, over $2k at once as I'm lucky and have savings and a good job w/low other bills so I can afford that.

That's why I've been saying for years we're all economic slaves to the Federal Reserve until we change that.

You shouldn't rely on getting any financial assistance is the thing. We all need to learn to live within our means and work hard for what we want. Instead too many were told we can buy whatever we want whenever we want it and just pay it off later. Many low income Americans have luxuries no other poor person has in any other country.

@clubmike2910 I've had people steal my debit card info at least 4 times since I've been with my local credit union and I've never had a problem w/them giving me my money back and catching that it was fraud in the first place and calling me about it. I do always here it's easier to dispute things with CCs though, but I've never had to do it for anything big. I've always gotten my money back and a new card w/a new number sent out immediately.

Yes, don't go to expensive colleges, but rather try trade schools if you can, and don't buy new cars either. Get a nice gently used older car and get it checked out by a mechanic before making the purchase if it's a private sell. Don't eat out all of the time and learn to cook healthy whole foods meals at home. Start growing your own food too! We really need to all be doing that now as they're trying to create mass famines.

Yeah, I think a lot more Americans need to learn to live modestly again and it's not really so bad. I've found the Youtube channels Living on a dime and Prepper Princess very helpful in learning how to still live well but w/little money.

@thomgizziz No dude, the more people who wake up and start growing their own food the better as if we're all so helplessly dependent on the grocery stores for sustenance, people will be murdering each other for any access to food soon. If we all just started helping ourselves now maybe we won't have such mass panic when everything crashes. I give out this same advice everywhere I can. We need to learn how to can, sew, shoot well and do basic handy man jobs again around the house so we can sustain ourselves w/o the grid. The govt. has made us too dependent on them and it will be our downfall if we don't reverse that now.

Yep, this is what I'm doing now. Took me a while to get to this point where I make enough money at my job to comfortably pay off the debt I've accumulated since I was in college, and when I was still struggling to pay off my balances timely, I would just open new CC accounts to transfer my balances over to so I could avoid paying the interest fees. I'd just have to pay the transfer fee, but it still saved me hundreds of dollars when I had a lot of debt and not enough income coming in. Finally after years, it's paying off, and now I do pay any CC off that will charge me interest every month, and only have two left carrying a balance in which I'm charged 0% interest on. A Discover card is great for taking advantage of cash back every quarter that I just use towards my next statement balances. Finally they're starting to earn me money instead of the other way around! It takes practice and some discipline. Try to only put needed items on your CCs. Back when I was younger I of course would put other things on there that were luxury items like concert tickets and eating out or other random fun things, but you don't want all of that to add up and then be paying so much more for them later if you're not smart about the interest fees. That's why I don't care so much now that all of the CC companies raised my interest rates due to inflation even though I have excellent credit b/c I never have to pay them anyway!

It's so weird that now when America has the highest CC debt, I'm about to pay all of mine off that I've been carrying on my back for over 15 years now... Can't wait to be debt free! Just worried once I pay it all off, the whole economy will crash and then money won't mean anything anymore, ha! We'll all be killing each other over food.
