@Urbicide So sad. I'm from the Cincinnati area too! But moved away long ago b/c Ohio is boring lol.

@1685Violin Kroger is based out of Cincinnati, Ohio, and they make a lot of grocery products as well as have their own grocery chains all over the U.S. I grew up in Ohio, so it was just called Kroger there, but in CA it's called Ralph's and here in Vegas where I am now it's called Smith's, but you'll see all their generic products say Kroger on them. They're pretty big. We also used to have Meijer in Ohio, but they're not as big as Kroger there and we have none out west. Fun fact tho: my mom used to work the night shift at Meijer's.

Yeah, it's most likely that. It all depends where the stores they closed are located and that will tell you the full story. Out west where i live the Kroger's brand stores are alive and well, and always adding to their generic product line, especially their organic product line, so I think they're doing really well for themselves. Probably just cutting off the least profitable stores due to too much cultural enrichment near them.

@RayGetardo Yes, I have noticed that they push us more toward pickup and delivery now. I've started using it b/c I absolutely hate shopping around a bunch of other annoying people who get in my way and then I have to wait in line and all that shit. I aint got time for dat! So I pay a little extra to not have to walk into the store anymore.

I have a hard time believing the huge grocery store, Kroger, from my home town of Cincinnati, Ohio, is doing bad. I've only seen them growing their personal brands over the years - especially their organic Simple Truth brand - and making some stores more like Walmarts near me out in the west now. They make A LOT of products and I buy a lot of their generic brands, so I honestly don't see how they'd be suffering if not every grocery store was. Bringing up Kmart or Sears is not the same b/c everyone needs groceries, so harder for a grocery store chain to close unless they're really poorly managed.
