You don’t have to be a doctor to know if someone has a broken leg or not. You don’t have to be be a doctor to know if someone is living or dead. And, at the same time, there’s no qualifications necessary and no medical degree required to know if someone is suffering from dementia any more than there is to tell if they’re suffering from from other sorts of disability. What sort of an argument are you desperately trying to make? That you have to be a doctor in order to determine if someone is the r-word? Somebody you’ve known your whole life and you have to be a doctor to tell that there’s something wrong with them, no matter what’s wrong with them? Get outta here. What sort of nonsense cope is that?
