The '5 invasions' omit the equally bloody dozens of raids and invasions against Moscow by the Crimean Khanate staged from across the Dnieper. The area of Ukraine Russia is aiming is precisely that area,a vast open land that opens the way to core russian population centre and is a historical soft underbelly. Think of eastern anatolia to Turkey,or east prussia to Poland

??? Are you kidding me.China in SCS,India and Pakistan, the Yugoslav wars,Middle East in general,tribal-nomad conflict in Sub Sahara, etc etc these are all world tension points happening in the last two decades.

CDU is the only reason why Germany is the leader of EU instead of France
7
@SportZFan4L1fe -Bombing civillian targets in Syria and North Caucasus -Propping up a fundamentalist dictatorship in Checnya -Performing hundreds of online attack against western computer systems. -Aiding warlords in Libya and Central Africa -Crushing civilian opposition in Kazakhstan -Collaborating with taliban to kill US soldiers

It just means green party are still 'green',i.e inexperienced in politics and unable to handle such a massive surge in popularity
5
@belonging9200 look if Green cant even handle the fallout of a plagiarism scandal, what are the odds of them able to strongarm German industries into paying more for electricity, much less dealing with indebted EU members or Russia and Turkey?
5
Its not even realistic, what,do they want to have solar energy in German weather?
4
Romani crying 🤣
4
Lol is Turkey going to form a block with Somalia or something
3
Pushing? Poland and Hungary spend the last few years speaking against immigration and whatnot and they face literally 0 consequences. If a EU nation admits mass migration that is the choice of the respective head of state, not Brussel's agenda. The reason why EU is cutting funding to Hungary is because they are not backing up Europe in its time of need despite receiving massive amount of kickbacks from Brussels all these years. Not because of culture wars nonsense
2
@neodym5809 my point still stands, and gas turbines cant compete economically with nuclear
2
@camelemoji2918 no trying to get in EU costs Ukraine its freedom. EU guarantee is only worthwhile if EU is willing to sacrifice people and economy to defend its members (or would be members) EU wont since its not a military or political union in the first place, just a common market. Case in point;Germany raised its own military budget by 100 billion after Ukrainian war but only send belated half hearted support to prospective EU member Ukraine, and before the war Germany actively pursue diplomacy with Russia using ostpolitik. I dont get what freedom or guarantee you are talking about here.
2
EU will never accept Turkey because islamic turkey won't fit in with christian europe.Which is crazy because Europe was more atheistic than christian and a lot of turks aren't even observant muslims, but that is how the world is
2
well, enjoy your declining birth rate then
2
@elitav5491 Russian government's perspective is not 'retarded'. 1).Ukraine has the most productive farmland in the entire novorossiya belt, which is important considering that Russian agriculture is on the decline due to poverty of farmers and lack of arable land 2.)Ukraine is easy picking, comparable to Sudetenland or Poland back in WW2. Dystopic, impoverished former dictatorships with a lot of Russian speaking people that can be incentivized to be Kremlin loyalists 3).Annexing half of Ukraine will pave a steady connection to Crimea, granting Russia a warm water port and access to the Black Sea 4.Putin's popularity skyrocketed after his previous succeses in Checnya,Donbas, and Syria. In his mind a successful war = good rating and he needs a good rating to counter the effect of covid restrictions, worsening economy and Navalny's poisoning Unfortunate that Putin's decision will likely result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, but there is a difference between what is morally good and what is good from an utilitarian sense
2
This is some serious level coping
2
What other block will accept Turkey? Arabs won't accept Turkey since turkish military will almost definitely overwhelm them, other turkic countries are too reliant on Russia, etc.
1
I simply have no idea how the heck Turks are getting the money for this.Unless you are US,you generally cant just print money to fund your president's crazy spending project
1
America will have less free society and no abortion rights if it was communist ironically. Those people need to differentiate between bolsheviks and social democrats or other bourgeoisie leftist
1
Hungary is not a fight between individual freedom and socialist tyranny, its a fight between religious kleptocracy and socialist tyranny.
1
Say what you want about gender equality in workplace, comparing Meloni vs Mussolini is a sure proof that some jobs are simply not suited for certain genders
1
Why should Putin fear EU? Germany is one of Putin's largest customer especially under the German 'East-politic' strategy and the rest of Europe other than the Poles and Baltics is either apathetic or have a bonhomie with Putin who they viewed as a partner against terrorism(especially right wing eu members)
1
Communism is not the only left wing faction just like how fascism is not the only right wing faction.
1
Lmao, for all the moral whining here it all boils down to whether west europeans are willing to die to defend Ukraine from Russia. I dont think so
1
So Macron isn't a lunatic extremist, despite his social policy regarding north africans not being that much different from people like Le Pen,just because he's pro EU (a.k.a pro west european elitism)
1
lol, just look at Eastern Europe even after getting billions of euros from Brussels they still form blatant economic block with China(and in the case of Hungary with Russia) the truth is that EU membership should've been limited to West European countries only.Former East Block states should've never been allowed in,much less Turkey. This Ostpolitik has caused the EU to be overextended and dragged into a war with Russia, just to protect a bunch of pseudo-autocratic countries that openly mock liberal morality and everything the EU stood for
1
EU is collapsing within
1
US already have two in recent years, they're called Obama and Trump. Two ideologically "pro-small man" rulers who ends up making things worse for the little people and polarized society
1
Russian bot
1
@Icenri you pull this out of your ass
1
Orban may not imprison minority leaders or fund terrorist mercenaries unlike Erdogan, does not make him a clear cut politician either.Orban is more of a standard corrupt bureaucrat
1
@SpanishEnthusiastt Hungary is Europe's Catalonia.Fifth columnists disintergrating the wider political structure
1
Eh,when push comes to shove US will simply send a group of CIA agents to Hungary to shove lead up Orban's arse. Washington needs a united EU as a buffer against Russia. Not a divided one ruled by autocrats with sympathies to Russia and China
1
This isn't just opposing immigration. FdI was descended from MSI,which was the first postfascist party composed of many former Mussolini associates especially from the salo republic era
1
What is this retardation? Just because conservatives ally with the NSDAP during the weimar period does not mean conservatives today will align themselves with AFD to preserve power. This is like saying that Linke will try to overthrow the government because Rosa Luxemburg did the same thing decades ago
1
Because EU needs Hungary as meat shield against Russia and Turkey. Since Orban is getting rather friendly with Putin (and recently Erdogan, somehow) this strategy is clearly not working
1
Socially speaking,Macron is not that much different from Zemmour. His administration have become more right wing and racist (a.k.a anti islam in the france context) especially after the whole teacher beheading fiasco. Frenchmen not supporting Zemmour or Le Pen is not because they are more enlightened but because Macron becoming more racist in the name of revolutionary french values(it helps that anti eu fervor gets curbed after people sees how disastrous UK's exit was and some sort of rally round the flag effect with an oriental power invading EU borders)
1
Corbyn was more of a populist than anything the Tories can offer
1
@FunkBallGX he is a populist.Corbyn shows little to no respect to established political system and promise radical reforms to appeal directly to the masses. He might not scapegoat an ethnic minority(debatable really considering how Corbyn tends to show up in photos meeting hezbollah members and former yugo war criminals, and how soft he is on antisemitism on Labour party) but he is still a populist.Corbyn is like a more succesful version of Mosley
1
@lynnixvarjo9150 are all left organizations and movements, just like how catholicism and protestanitsm are both christian movements despite being on different social-political axis. Trying to create an exclusive true leftism with only marxist-derived or anarchist movements is historically false, and before the bolshevik revolution leftism was generally accepted as bourgeoisie liberalism and social democracy.
1
I'd argue that Turkey and Hungary are commiting some pretty serious human rights abuses, but other than democracy and human rights,Turkey and the central european states going rogue will present a serious geopolitical problem to EU far more than Brexit
1
@markoliimatainen2565 they sold more oil to china than to the west
1
Who's the one seething and dilating now 🤣
