I do remember an "un-armed" white guy getting shot (multiple times) not too long ago, for having a BB Gun in his hotel room. He was showing it to other guests (he told them he's in "Past Control" and uses it to shoot rats) Someone called the police... who then over reacted... it's all on film... and I'm pretty sure it was right here, on the Real News.
