Wow! The Japan I heard of back in the 1990s was very different. Most possibly, this was Japan of the 1960s to early 2000s which I and others heard about in school. People sleeping in futon on tatami mats, sitting in seiza position which is known as vajrasana in Sanskrit etc.. While many of these things may still be in practice in traditional areas of Japan, what you are telling is very different from what many of us here in the west heard about Japan.

@JapanwithNao I would love to experience being in a traditional Japanese house. Unfortunately, there are not many Japanese living here in Edmonton and surrounding areas and the nearest traditional Japanese garden is in Spruce Grove. My best bet really would be to go to Vancouver or Victoria as both cities have a high Japanese and Japanese Canadian population. Even better to come to Japan.

@JapanwithNao Yes, please! I do not like how people are painting Japanese as unfriendly to non Japanese. There are unfriendly people in all nationalities, races, ethnicities etc..

My favorite Japanese anime is Chibi Maruko chan as well as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I also like Pokemon. There are other animes which I liked as well. But those are the main ones. Aside from the Japanese cartoons, I also like jidai geki, especially ones set during the Edo period.
