  1. I am a Finnish American, and my mom visited Ukraine several times, and I've known people from Ukraine since elementary school. Feb 22-24, 2022 were very dark days I will always remember, but then the Ukrainian army miraculously held up and seemed to immediately adopt the same guerilla tactics that Finns used to turn the terrain of Finland against the Soviets in 1939. There indeed is hope, both physically and spiritually.

  2.  @bbdj2779  definitely. Can't stop the support ever. Ukraine is basically the poorest country in Europe, and we are commanded to share extra resources with those who are less fortunate.

  4.  @EconLessons Ayla is a fairly Finnish-sounding name. The author is a Finnish American, and Finland was covered in ice at the time, but surely a large percentage of Finnish ancestors lived in Ukraine and southwestern Russia relatively recently (the last 10,000 years). I see that region as my second ancestral homeland.
