The motivation for pair bonding is so different for women and men. It seems to this survivor from the 70s that men began to evolve, but then stopped during the Rayguns years. Now, no one seems satisfied with the status quo. And it's not up to women to fix men and vice versa. I take this as proof that God has an acute sense of the ironic.
