As an US citizen I don’t understand either. I could only imagine the crazy amount of statues your country would have to pull down if you got the same way as US. But I’m guessing people in Italy don’t take past to seriously since you have so much of it around every corner. Hell I wouldn’t mind seeing statue of Caligula just to brush up on a little history and to see how artists portrayed him.
