He's an astrophysicist, not a geologist
39
Well, it's never going to happen because Dubay always runs away from every debate.
27
@cambee3070 Nope, he's a scientist
27
@ThePhilosophicalOne He's also a scientist with countless degrees in studies that are difficult for the average person to get.
17
@YouMustQuestionEverything He's not scared. He's just not interested debating something he finds nonsensical. When you're a world renowned scientist, debating well established facts with obvious con men is a no no. Why? Because it can do more to help the spread of misinformation. Con men target big names like Tyson for a reason. To attract a larger audience. The truth is that you don't have to be right to win the debate, you just have to be a better talker and better prepared. Debating is a skill that Con men tend to develop, so why give them what they want? Attention. It just sends the wrong message that science cares about they stuff the spread. He's wise not to.
16
@cambee3070 Yep, I'd feel stupid if I pretended to know more then an astrophysicist. Good on you dude to admit you're wrong. I respect you for that.
15
@kaylemkoster1719 The Bible does not say the earth is flat. Any verse you think points to that is always misinterpreted. And even if it did, who cares?
15
Actually, I agree. We don't live on a spinning ball. A ball is an object used to play in sports. The earth is not a spinning ball. It's a rotating planet. A spherical shaped planet. That rotates once a day. I wouldn't call that spinning.
10
@FrenchFryKayak It's not a ball. It's a planet. It's definitely not flat.
9
@vladooghentwo No, what I said was, He's not scared. He's just not interested debating something he finds nonsensical. When you're a world renowned scientist, debating well established facts with obvious con men is a no no. Why? Because it can do more to help the spread of misinformation. Con men target big names like Tyson for a reason. To attract a larger audience. The truth is that you don't have to be right to win the debate. You just need to be a better talker and better prepared them the opposition. Debating is a skill that Con men tend to develop, so why give them what they want? Attention. It just sends the wrong message that the stuff they spread is relevant to science. So he's smart not to debate

@masonhernandez6225 Yes, and they'll tell you no. But not for the reasons you're thinking. You seem to have this ridiculous idea that the plane would somehow fly off into space if the pilots didn't dip its nose down. No, that's not how planes work at all. The plane uses the atmosphere to fly. As the pilot reaches a certain altitude, they sit in a certain band of air pressure. As that air pressure curves with the earth, so will the plane. It couldn't ever fly off into space because there is no atmosphere there to use for thrust or lift. Maybe try learning how planes work instead of posting a clueless ignorant comment like that.
7
Cry about it some more. Earth is still a sphere.
7
Eric won't debate anyone ever because Eric himself knows he is lying. Anyone including Tyson would obliterate him. That's why he runs from every debate.
6
@martiray3945 Like I said, you don't give obvious con men a platform to spread their bs. Especially when you're a world renowned scientist. It wouldn't changer their mind anyway so it would be a wasted effort. It's bot that he's scared, he's just not interested in debating something he finds nonsensical.
6
@gottogo8675 Okay, so I guess I'll just believe a random man on the internet I know nothing about, and not all our thousands of years of scientific progress and research.
6
@JujuBuckets33 Very convincing rebuttal. Take the L
6
It's neither. It's not a spinning space ball. It's a rotating planet.
6
@gwendodarose5889 You're half right. It's not a spinning ball. It's a rotating planet.
5
As opposed to who?
5
So what's Eric Dubays excuse for not debating anyone who challenges him? If he's not willing to debate any famous YouTubers then how are we supposed to believe he'd show up to debate Neil DeGrasse Tyson? A world renowned scientist? Are you beginning to see the issue there?
5
Wow, an imbecile who gets overwhelmed by numbers with 3 digits in them. Also, learn what level means.
5
Why does anybody, in this day and age, Believe the earth is flat?
5
@JudaismIslamUnited Yeah your ignorance of how this works doesn't debunk the existence of gravity. Helium goes up because it is lighter then the air, and because of graviy pulling down the air with more force then the helium, causing an upward acceleration in the opposite direction. Pretty simple don't you think?
5
Wow, so much blissful ignorance and stupidity in that comment, it's hard to know where to begin. First of all, just admit you have no idea how planes work. The plane doesn't have to correct anything to accommodate the curve of the earth. Because as the plane ascends, it reaches a certain altitude. And as that altitude curves with the earth, so will the plane. You seem to have this ridiculous idea that it would just fly off into space if it didn't. It is impossible for it to fly off into space because there's no atmosphere there for it to use for thrust or lift. No water most does not find its own level. Water is not a living thing it does not find anything. Level and flat are not synonymous. Level means "To have no part higher then another" meaning to balance something out. That concept literally only works because gravity exists. So you can have something that's level but not flat and something that's flat but not level. Do you understand the difference now? I don't know why you guys think level and flat mean the same thing. They don't. So thank you for misusing the word level and contradicting yourself. As you can see the word level alone destroys flat earth entirely, as it only works because gravity exists and gravity wouldn't work on a flat earth.
5
Eric is scared of debating anyone because he knows he would be made a fool out of.
5
Or because he's just not interested in wasting his time, conversing with an obvious con man.
5
Nope, next?
5
@JujuBuckets33 So that's an L for you, then.
5
@valherustinger7848 Kind of, but my comment is true though. Dubay is too lazy and too scared to debate anyone about the shape of the earth. And even if Neil did agree to put him on, I can guarantee you that Dubay would've quickly declined.
5
Wow, so much stupidity and ignorance in that comment. It's hard to know where to begin. First of all, just admit you have no idea how planes work. The plane does not need to dip down to match the curvature of the earth. Because as the plane increases it's altitude it sits in a certain band of air pressure, and as that band of air pressure curves with the earth, so will the plane. You also seem to have this ridiculous idea that the plane would fly off into space if it doesn't dip its nose down. It can't go into space because it uses the atmosphere to fly, and there's no atmosphere there for it to use for thrust or lift. Second, It's really not a good idea to try and debunk the globe by using arguments that no one actually said. I actually agree when you say the Earth doesn't spin 1000 MPH. Because it doesn't. And no one claimed it does. It makes one full rotation every 24 hours. That's really slow. The earth rotates at a constant velocity in an enclosed system that is the atmosphere. That's why a helicopter doesn't land in a different spit if it hovers in place. And I don't know what you mean by "The sun doesn't go underneath the earth." There is no underneath the earth. That is a stupid thing to say. Up and down is relative. Down is towards the center of earth and up is away from the center of earth. Try learning what words mean and doing some research before making an idiot out of yourself.
5
Now you're just spamming. Anyone with a brain can see it's a globe by looking at mundane everyday observations and using their brains. You shouldn't need people on the internet to point out the obvious to you.
5
@FrenchFryKayak The Bible does not say it's flat. Every verse that you think points to that is always the reader taking a metaphorical verse literally. And yes there is measurable curvature, you're just too lazy to look. For instance explain why ships disappear bottom first going out to Sea.
5
"Scientism" is not a thing. Saying that demonstrates that you are Science illiterate. Science is a growing prophesy. It has no doctrine and it has no dogma. So using the word "Scientism" only serves to disqualify you from adult conversations.
5
So what's Dubays excuse for not debating any of his challengers? If he's not willing to debate any famous YouTubers, then how are we supposed to believe he'd show up to debate Neil DeGrasse Tyson? A world renowned scientist. Are you beginning to see the issue here, Pete? Furthermore, Tyson didn't run away from any debate. Because he never agreed to a debate in the first place. Rogan just penciled Tyson in without asking him first. Would you agree to do something if someone volunteered you without checking with you first? Probably not, right? Neither would I. So why should Tyson? So for those reasons Tyson DECLINED a discussion with Dubay. He didn't run away from a discussion with Dubay.
5
@neatoburrito1 Fun fact. Tyson never bowed out from anything. Flerfs love to claim that Tyson chickened out from debating Eric Dubay, but never show a clip or any evidence of Tyson agreeing to the debate. You know why? It never happened. Tyson never agreed to the debate. Flerfs just made that up. And meanwhile, Eric can't get off his lazy behind to debate anyone ever let alone Tyson. If he's not willing to debate say Professor Dave, Scimandan, FTFE, McToon or DeadKennedyInSpace then how in the world do you expect me to believe that he'd show up to debate Neil DeGrasse Tyson? He'd be made a fool out of and he knows it. The reason he bowed out in this particular video is because Joe Rogan just assumed he'd do it and penciled him in without actually asking him.
5
this has to be a joke 😂😂😂
4
They don't. North is not up. Learn what up and down is.
4
@unclesalty7778 Norhing but rubbish. Who cares what a book says? You can see it's not flat by looking at mundane everyday observations and using your brain. Like a sunset. How does the sun disappear below the horizon and not shrink in size? How about the midnight sun in Antarctica.
4
@homework9102 Convincing rebuttal.
4
@homework9102 Likewise, moron.
4
Oh, the guy who didn't bother to actually listen to what he said and chose to take "Pear Shaped" and run away with it.
4
The question has already been answered thoroughly by the science community countless times. Flerfs just choose to ignore the answers.
4
Except there are, you just choose to ignore them.
4
Yeah and he's smart not to debate a clear and obvious con man. By the way, what's Dubay's excuse for refusing to debate any of his challengers?
4
@TopGook Would you actually like to try proving their CGI and that we didn't go to the moon or are you just keep believing everything you are told by internet con men?
4
@Flat_Earth_Sophia I trust the government way more then I trust any flat earth channels on YouTube. That's not to say they government is always right, far from it. I trust them more because they are well educated people who are actually checked unlike Flat Earth YouTube channels. Eric Dubay lies about literally everything. So thank you for proving my point.
4
Because why converse with an obvious con man when you're a world renowned scientist? Why send the wrong idea that the false information they spread is relevant to the science community? Why waste your time and effort when it's likely not going to convince them, anyway? There's no good reason. It's smart on Neil's part not to take the bate.
4
@federalinvestigation9962 Yawn, typical flerf. "I'm too dumb to understand, therefore it's a lie." Do you want to actually actually explain why it's a lie that makes no logical sense and is there to make an excuse, or are you just saying that because you don't like the answer? Your opinions about it are awfully subjective and vague. Your lack of explanation for your conclusion automatically makes our argument logically sound, unless you can actually get off your lazy behind and explain your reasoning. For the one millionth time, there is no bottom of the globe or top of the globe. That is a stupid thing to say. Up and down is relative. Up is away from the center of gravity, and down is towardd the center of gravity. No, water most certainly does not find its own level. Water is not a living thing it does not find anything. Level and flat are not synonymous you. Now, are you legitimately this stupid or are you just a troll?
4
Gravity.
4
@ad_burner_sc Yep, and your rebuttal to that?
