@meme4one environmental impact always comes second to military capability when it comes to defence priorities, and rightly so. That doesn't mean the MOD can't also work on reducing its impact in areas where it doesn't affect capability.

Nothing to do with being thankless, more to do with dreadful recruitment timescales, poor conditions and pay leading to dreadful retention, and far too much work piled onto too few individuals. Honestly, why would anyone bother going TG1 if they could have a far better career in the civvie airline world?

@ddontyychill out Krembot, there's no 'invasion', just (deliberately) poor management of the UK asylum system making illegal routes far more profitable to criminal gangs who traffick people.

Tbf it doesn't make much sense for Canada use it's own kit for this when RAF Typhoons are routinely based in Cyprus and the US has a carrier group in the area

No additional money has been spent on any of this. Those pilots were employed regardless, those aircraft would have flown regardless, and weapons were already in inventory with shelf lives that mean they would either get dropped or disposed of eventually.
