  1. ​ @jelepettos1894 F-35 has replaced a different capability to Typhoon. They fulfil different needs. The UK couldn't have produced anything close to the F-35 on its own, so teamed up with the US on the project from the outset and had significant input into the development.

  2. Imagine the billions that go into the incredibly lucrative US defence industry every year, funding tens of thousands of skilled jobs, paying wages which go back to govt through taxes and spending within the US economy.

  7. It doesn't maintain a standing strike group, but can generate one when required. We have two QE carriers and around 40 F-35.

  8. Nothing to do with not being good enough. We don't care if an F-16 falls into enemy hands, but a Typhoon or F-35 in enemy hands would be very bad, given the classified capabilities of both aircraft
