  2. ​ @melb5996 the difference is, those rare earth elements are readily recyclable and not combusted in massive quantities every single day. Once you burn fossil fuels, they're gone. A lithium battery is 98% recyclable.

  6. ​ @melb5996 there's no alarmist scam around climate change. Man-made climate change is well documented, and decades of research have led the vast majority of the scientific community to conclusions based on a wealth of data.

  9.  @anonnemo2504  I'm not sure socialist is applicable to a party that has privatised so much of the public sector and actively seeks to consolidate wealth and power in the hands of a limited number of individuals.

  10.  @anonnemo2504  Many MOD roles have been farmed out to private companies, for example. Military bases are full of employees of Babcock, Serco, ESS, etc.

  11.  @anonnemo2504  I'm not talking about the companies supplying equipment to the MOD, I'm talking about the engineering, stores, messing, fire services, recruitment, security/guards, MT, fuel management, aerial refueling, flying training, air traffic, etc that have either totally or partially been contracted out to private companies, making us far less deployable and resilient. Public sector budgets have been slashed hard since the tories came to power under the guise of 'austerity', which again is not indicative of a socialist ideology.

  12. Climate change has both a natural and man-made component. Anyone who can't grasp that by now is simply ignorant.

  13. It should come from a mixture of nuclear, renewable and energy storage, with fossil fuel plants for days when demand requires it. Unfortunately, that would take some form of planning and leadership from govt to achieve, so is unlikely to happen
