@aleaf4098 It would be better for both countries in the long run. Both are self sufficient resource wise. Canada would have a lot more work to do though in order to become totally self reliant. We don't have the industry like the US does. Russia weathered the most brutal sanctions ever and actually grew their economy because they have a lot of heavy industry and shitloads of resources. Plus they've been sanctioned for a long time on some level and learned to live with it. They began producing their own products that Europe tried to starve them of like cheese for example. Imagine what the USA plus Canada could achieve if combined.

@tk70707 Mexico is no good for Canada either. We lost a lot of jobs through NAFTA to them. There's no way that countries like Canada and the US should be in a free trade agreement with a third world country.

@danielmcguire7344 As long as the US has the same tariffs the other way it's fine. I don't know the actual deal that's in place but if the US is letting those products in for free they would be retarded. Food is a bit of a different thing because it's a bit of a national security concern if you get outcompeted by another country and lose the ability to feed yourself.

@John-fk2ky There have been illegals coming into Canada from the US. It happened a lot in Trump's first term. Likely failed refugee claimants mainly. Canada just rolled out the red carpet for them though. Once Biden got in they started going the other way more.
