  1. He was the king of England. It wasn't his job to be nice to foreigners especially when his people identified them as a threat. Should he have allowed raids from the north and bankruptes his kingdom so that people in the 21st century could call him a nice guy?

  2. ​ @erosion2205 He only had 500 men going against thousands. He had tribal allies some of the time but they weren't always reliable. It was quite dangerous.

  3. ​ @charlesmiv3842 They didn't need to make up stories to justify conquering Mexico. At once you say the Spaniards are genocidal maniacs but at the same time you're saying that they needed to convince the bleeding heart Spanish crown why it was okay to conquer a new land.

  4.  @charlesmiv3842  I just read about an archaeological dig in Mexico City where they found racks of human skulls just as described by the conquistadors. Are the archaeologists making it up too? It happened.

  5. Read The Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Diaz del Castillo..That is the first hand account. There is a smaller version of it called the Conquest of Mexico.
