  3. Think about it. Hey had all this time to break out and they couldn't do it. Our Lady Peace, 54-40, Big Wreck, Blue Rodeo, Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, and several other "lesser" bands all had more success internationally.

  4. Amen. They are okay at best. I think they are garbage but I wouldn't hate them as much as I do if I wasn't forced to hear them all the time. And this national mourning thing is sickening. Their fans are the kind of people who bring a 60$ bottle of Crown Royal to an all inclusive resort.

  7. Hippity. Justin Bieber is not part of this discussion. A better example would be Nickelback. Yes they blow. Popularity is not necessarily a measure of talent. But these hip fans are calling them great. Great. Led Zeppelin is a great band. Can you imagine a scenario where Led Zeppelin didnt have at least one hit worldwide? Or Tom Petty to be topical here. And the hip had it easier than most in getting their music out there. They were wealthy enough. They had a track record in Canada. They got a spot on Saturday night live. Went to Woodstock 99. All the border americans got to hear them. And they couldn't muster one hit song.

  8. Let's use Australia as an example here. An artist that is beloved there that doesn't even have big hit songs but found an audience worldwide. Nick Cave. The hip doesn't even have his level of recognition. So what's going on? Is the rest of the world stupid and we are geniuses or something?

  9. There are some alright artists known only in Canada but I can't say there are any that I am baffled that they didn't get famous abroad. There are some shitty famous ones and some decent non famous ones but the world isn't missing out too badly.
