Greenwashing (a compound word modelled on "whitewash"), also called "green sheen", is a form of advertising or marketing spin in which green PR and green marketing are deceptively used to persuade the public that an Organization's products, aims and policies are environmentally friendly. Example Massive DRAX Power Plant in the UK burns wood pellets from Canada, it gets $1 billion dollars in subsidies, it’s called Green Energy, and is not counted as CO2 Greenhouse Gas Emission’s, go figure that out.
