In 2010, with the help of $350,000 from the BC governments innovation Fund I witnessed the first trials of new Night Vision technology to fight fires, these were carried out in Port Alberni by Coulson Aviation.
Wane Coulson : “We’ve been able to get approval through the U.S. government to utilize that type of technology in Canada,” Coulson said. “It’s restricted product that we have, so every set of goggles are registered with the U.S. government, so they know where they’re at.”
Coulson Group’s 200 staffers operate a fleet of C-130s and Sikorsky S-61 helicopters in Portland, Oregon, Port Alberni, B.C., and Melbourne, Australia. It operates an air tanker base in Reno, Nevada, and helps the U.S. Forest service and other countries combat wildfires during hot and dry summers.
The fleet won’t be the first Boeing aircraft converted for firefighting. Colorado-based Global SuperTanker Services flies a converted Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet that can drop nearly 20,000 gallons of fire retardant.
Advantages of fighting fires at night, Coulson said, are that the air traffic quiets significantly which results in less stress for pilots and less worry about running into other aircraft.

I have also developed a way to use NASA technology to pinpoint a fires exact location, and direct an S-61 directly to that fire or hot spot, thereby stopping the fire from spreading immediately and becoming a monster fire.
New Technology ( actually 30 year old GPS technology married with NASA new technology and an app on my iPad I can track and pint point any fire and its exact location within 10ft all on my iPad at home)
My first development was during the 2021 fire that nearly destroyed Logan Lake, I pinpoint two hot spots 7 km from Logan Lake at 6:30 am, on the 11 August 2021. I tracked that fire from my computer here in Logan Lake using NASA technology and Software App on my iPad via the 2 Virs and 2 Modi’s Satellites from NASA.
When I saw those 2 hotspots combine and Join with the Big fire coming down from Tunkwa Lake and the Tremont Creek Fire, I printed out my report and took it to the Fire Chief at Logan Lake, I was told he was not there, leave this to the professionals?? So I took it to the RCMP, the rest is history, Logan Lake was evacuated and lucky not to be destroyed. We were evacuated.
I carried on my tracking of the Fires in BC from my son’s house in Chilliwack, all from my NASA app on my iPad. The next warning I gave was the fire approaching Merritt, I emailed the Mayor with my report, using the NASA printout, she was not aware of the fire approaching Merritt. This can all be verified by the RCMP at Logan Lake and by the Mayor of Merritt, I have still have the emails and the report I gave the RCMP in Logan Lake.

I am working with NASA to develop this further, the BC government is slower than Molasses in January, so I don’t deal with government, when it comes to technology.
