  1. For 4,000 years before that it was called Judea and Samaria, Israel was split in Two by the Romans. That is the Holy Land of the indigenous people of Israel. Israel was destroyed by the Assyrians in 722 B.C.E. Judah and Jerusalem fell to the Babylonian Empire and was destroyed in 586 B.C.E.
