Jorge I had a 1MZ customer who needed to quickly do emissions and would've not passed for renewal of the monitors weren't set. Search online for a TSB from Toyota about the conditions to set the monitor. Readiness Monitor Drive patterns. EG003-02. 96 to 02. Engine temp must be 176°+ closed loop. IAT above 14°F/10°C. Drive at 40-55 mph. If IAT is 50°F or below do for 7 mins. If above 50°F only 3 mins is necessary. Once that step is complete allow system test to learn by immediately driving at a fluctuating 35-45 mph for addl 16 mins. Smooth throttle ops. No jackrabbit accl. No brake check stopping or any sudden decel making throttle plate be completely closed. If you fail.. car will explode and the Lord will take you. Just kidding. If you fail, key off somewhere safe. Remove key. Open door. Close door. Refire engine and start over. Good luck. Be safe. May the Lord keep you. Also have AMD check for any pending codes which would prevent the monitor to set. Obvious, but some people don't know if the check engine light is trying to set you will not set monitors. You can also check if you have an enhanced OBD scan tool.

Don't pressure wash any of that oil off!! Perfect rust prevention!

I am constantly surprised no mechanics that don't work exclusively on Toyotas know of the separate shelf that splashes the ATF into the transfer case that shares the sump as the transmission. Think of a soap dish above the bathtub. It holds fluid but it will overflow down no into the tub. You can drain the tub but unless that soap dish is drained it will always hold old fluid. Fun fact, you can fill them both by using the filler neck. The full plug just on this engine design the 1MZ is a level check and doesn't need to be filled from there. But can be if only draining the t-case.

Oh I do miss that steering wheel. Pride of ownership indeed. Looks like that interior was either professionally or very well detailed and shampooed.

The 96 Camrys are near and dear to my heart too. Had two. A white that was t boned. We don't know of it was a distracted driver or someone looking for insurance money. Nonetheless it was replaced with a slightly nicer gold one. That handle is definitely notorious!! Saw someone dripp a hole in the remnant of the handle and put a zip tie in it to pull open LOL

Great point knowing that this is the V6 than can be changed without removing the plenum. Younger me: Everywhere I went every shop wanted to quote me extra time so that could take it off. Got so sick of shady shops I did it myself. Those rear plug wires probably were never removed because the rubber was stuck to the porcelain!!

Hahahah I remember that broken door/coin holder. Taped it shut on our old one. The cat died on it when we had to retire her. Sad day.
