You should also specify if it has any carbon cleanup in the valves and valve seals via walnut shell material, dry ice pellets, or similar vs not being touched at all. Because of the way DI engines work, that maintenance makes a big difference.

@wholeNwon unprocessed base crude yes, but then processed and an additive pack combined make it a different animal

For the most part no, not for a normal shelf life. But with one fluid when opened should be fully used almost immediately. And that's brake fluid. That's why they sell them in small containers. You see it's hygroscopic which means it sucks in moisture from the atmosphere. So if you live in Florida it would suck more than say Vegas in the dry desert. Everything else is for the most part okay. Just don't be stockpiling cases you find on sale or rebate to motor oil that stretches many years upon years old. After a year or two the additive package can potentially drop out of suspension. At which shake up the bottle really good to redistribute the agents that were suspended in the oil before. But it's still a very long time that it can still be good if unopened. And still relatively long if opened in small amounts of leftovers. Not to say a shop can't stack cases up the walls because remember, they do a lot of oil changes for many customers daily. Fresh rotation.

I think younmention d briefly at one point about cars that have over 200k already so you aren't referring to that for a certain fluid you mentioned, one of the first ones. But later you didn't emphasize that for older vehicles on regards to power steering fluid. Older like 20+ years and there are still many out there being Toyota or Lexus or Scions. For those people who have the older cars, check the reservoir or cap printed information. For example an ES300 we had of that vintage was developed and built for Dexron 3. Yup. In that era there was that exception. So I agree with you on everything else. But that needs to be an important distinction because put the power steering fluid in a system designed for something different and I know, I will have problems. Personally I have had to deal with power steering leaks and it is not a happy time. Oily engine bay driveway and rotting rubber from the oil eating away at stuff it shouldn't be on outside of the system.

@I_know_what_im_talking_about I had that 1MZ-FE before. Different config though. Did you do the flushes on that vehicle in your shop? How did it fare? I had some problems but I want to know your results first.
