1) fetuses aren't babies 2) this law will not stop abortions 3) a life could be saved by the government insisting that you give up your kidney. The same principle that denies abortion allows the government to do that. Are you ready for the state to have that power? Or do you only care about lives when they can't speak and so advocating for them is easy?

@goku kaioken Most abortions occur after contraceptives fail. Is abortion acceptable if precautions were taken but they did not work?

@goku kaioken 1) not all people can take all birth control and the most effective are also the most potentially unsafe, particularly in regards to clotting. Even with perfect use, which we should not expect all people to have, there is still a 1 or more percent failure rate. You have avoided the question: if contraceptives fail is abortion acceptable?

@goku kaioken First, the law in Texas is not constitutional, so while it passed due to Texas having too many people who hate freedom and restricting the voting rights of everyone darker than tan or has a uterus, that doesn't make it reasonable. That said, Texas is about a decade from going blue. And that's only because of the new Jim Crow laws they are using. Being a 'majority rules' country does not mean destroying the rights of a minority. Well, I suppose in this country and certainly in Texas that has been the case, but it's not supposed to be. The disabled are a small portion of the population; do you want to get rid of handicap parking? Your rational is as ignorant as it is immoral. Utterly authoritarian. My concern is for everyone. I do not limit my compassion to those in my state. Where one person is oppressed we are all oppressed. It's like what Jesus said, what you do for the least of those among you you've done for me. I wish to save people from having to shove coat hangers in their vagina because they can't access safe abortions. A thing that is already happening. It would be against my religion to ignore the suffering happening in your state. But I digress. I suppose it's unfair to hold you to Christian standards since it does not seem you are one. The fact remains that this is a violation of bodily autonomy. To get to the point, yes, we make exceptions. You indeed could make exceptions for those who had contraceptives fail. At least on an ethical level you could agree but say it would not be provable in most cases so it's ineffective as law. BUT. That's not why you mention contraceptives. You are working under the assumption that pregnancy is some sort of punishment for sinful women that they should not cheat their way out of. Which is why you have no interest in an exception.

@goku kaioken whoa there. Why would I mock myself? I am a Christian. I will mock those who honor Him with their lips but disgrace Him with their actions, however.

@goku kaioken that is an apology quite a bit more sincere than expected. I can appreciate your defensiveness and if there was any harm to me you are more than forgiven in my mind. If we are speaking candidly, here is my thought on the manner. I think the issue of abortion is an effective way to make good Christian engage in politics antithetical to Christianity. It channels the desire to do good in the world into something harmful. It gets Christians to vote for a party that is cruel to the poor, sick and elderly. That celebrates the wealthy. That is for a punitive and cruel criminal system rather than one based on forgiveness and restoration. But, having convinced Christians that babies are being murdered and only they can stop it, conservatives still get the Christian vote. I suppose if babies were being killed or that conservatives were going to do something to stop it maybe I'd be convinced myself. I despise how Christianity has been corrupted in this country. I am often ashamed to admit I'm Christian but never because of Jesus.

You wake up, tubes tied between you and a stronger. You are informed that your liver is functioning for his; if you remove the tubes, he'll die. Tell me- should it be against the law to remove the tubes and leave?

Censorship Is real As stupid as the unvaccinated are I have yet to hear anyone say they want them rejected from care. But, I deal with pro-life people, which is why they got vaccinated in the first place.

@Dr King what's that have to do with what I said? But, if you feel moral responsibility is necessary, let's say the reason is that you were driving, made a mistake and hit the other man's car. That is why you are hooked up to him. Should you be forced to be hooked up to this man?

Indeed, people over 70 do have a high turn out rate.

@kaialexander5636 yeah, you are an exception. But it's likely due to religious indoctrination into the republican death cult. Perhaps a bit more life will change your views. It did with me.

@ctrain9257 I'm not even sure what you think is false.
