And the same group has confirmed the efficacy of the pfizer vaccine. Which, unlike your quote, is not 11 years old.

@SP.Addams The NCIB, the one quoted by OP.

@user-dh8dz4gk7i I'm sorry... what does this have to do with anything? It's difficult to get people to not take the life saving medicine for full scientific rigor, but it seems some have. This is responding to the state of the vaccines 8 months ago; nothing has come out to indicate any dangers. What is your point?
2
@user-dh8dz4gk7i Well, as the article mentions, there are people who did continue with the placebo trial. But it's worth noting that vaccines are not the sort of thing where long term placebo trials are needed. At the end of the basic trial period testing can be done for efficacy and we can be pretty sure we have that down; either there are antibodies or there are not antibodies. Pretty straight forward. As for dangers, vaccines do not tend to have long term effects beyond protection against getting certain viruses. We've been making vaccines for a long time and there isn't any reason to think this will be different. In the end, it's unethical to force people who got a placebo to stay with it when we are talking about life saving medication. Would it be more rigorous with more placebo data? Sure. Is there any reason to doubt the safety or efficacy? No. This is just a very weak excuse to oppose a vaccine that will save your life and those around you.

I wish.

Sure. As long as you aren't going to shove something into my body in the process. I don't want to breathe your virus. If you do not go around other people then you are free to remain in danger.

Yeah, that does sound like the anti-vax movement alright.

I mean, with this we are talking about swaying people into not dying and killing people and destroying our economy and causing untold misery.

@StephenKershaw1 My media consumption does not change if I am scientifically literate or not.

@evanraynovic I mean, if it was true it would be a solid argument against abortion. Considering the most common feeling someone has after getting an abortion is relief and there is nothing to indicate a fetus is itself a person, certainly not within the range almost all abortions happen... I'd say you'd have a difficult road to prove it. Meanwhile, the evidence is overwhelming for the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.
1
@evanraynovic And that is besides the fact that the vaccine limits the spread of the virus which limits it getting to people who are vulnerable.
