I knew a lady in Dallas who knew Ned Green as a child, he was her dads partner in business and friend. She told me he'd lost his leg over his mother trying to get him seen at a free clinic. He scandalized Dallas society by openly living in sin, lol with a woman who was a former prostitute. His mother had forbade him to marry the woman so he waited until she was dead to do so. He brought the first automobile to Dallas and soon after gave it to her father and bought a larger more powerful car. He told stories of his mother keeping warm by wrapping up in newspapers, and of he and his sister living in a one room apartment with his mother who never used the heat. My friend did go to to NYC to meet Mrs Greeen with her mother and sister and said Mrs Green was gracious and entertained them in a hotel as she had no real home to do so. Ned was generous and very kind according to Katharine.
