  28.  @matthewy3950  don’t ask me my close friends lost a family home ON the beach in Hurricane Ike, it’d been front row for 35 years and that entire peninsula was wiped out it was like losing a family member. They were actually lucky the land was still there and they sold it right away. The answer was to new builds to build on taller stilts and were required by new codes to have more reinforcements. 17 feet tall stilts will do until storm surges reach 30 feet I guess. The insurance companies are going to be the last word I think
