  1. Coyotes are almost never aggressive, usually only if a female has pups nearby. This is not normal coyote behavior and the public doesn’t need to fear them! They are secretly sneaking around our creeks and alleys in search of food, usually rats or other small animals. They’ve always been a part of our community in DFW. I live near a creek and wooded area so I keep an eye on small dogs when she goes out at after to pee, yes they can jump an 8 foot fence but it’s rare. Nevertheless I’d never allow a small dog or cat to stay outside at night
