The American chassidic culture is much better than the Israeli one.
It feels like these Jews actually do better without having their own country.
In America, I once got lost, and only a male chassidic Jew stopped to talk to me and give me directions.
Whereas in israel,
They don’t talk to women, their rabbis forbade them from looking women in the eye.
On their own streets, where they proudly construct pathetic ghettos to separate from the secular Jews, they make women and men walk on different sides of the sidewalk and the men can get extremely violent - which I’ve personally witnessed when we performed in an interfaith concert in Jerusalem.
Some orthodox idiot spread the word that it was a missionary event (it wasn’t, it was choirs from each faith singing in Jerusalem), and they rallied hundreds of chassidic Jews to scream “we killed Jesus” at both Christian’s and the secular Jews.
I have never been more ashamed in my entire life.
The chassidic Jewish tradition is in big trouble, and they won’t admit it.
Their rabbis are their main authority, and their rabbis are amongst the most corrupt and hateful human beings I’ve ever seen.
They pushed the Covid jab on their congregation because they received bribes and they only exposed these bribes after they found out they weren’t being paid the same amount as the other guy..
The chassidic community in israel made me atheist for a few years and now I just stay respectfully away.
I’m glad you found some people who didn’t reflect my experiences, and I’m glad there are better chassidic Jews than those I met as a kid in Jerusalem.
