I found it funny when you tried to shake Olgaā€™s hand, and you didnā€™t at first because the chassidic Jewish community taught you the women there donā€™t touch foreign men (that arenā€™t their husband or brother/dad, and suddenly Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s only reserved for the husbandā€¦ and I used to be religious as a kid..). (Then again, the people you met were super liberal, in the Amish/Mennonite, but even in the Jewish community).

  4. Yes. The Mennonites were put in Gulags for refusing to take up arms for communism in soviet Russia. There are some CRAAAAZY stories that Iā€™ve only recently learned.
