  1. My grandma used to have one of those mini irons. It looked just like the big ones, where you’d fill it with hot coals and iron clothes, but the debate was on whether it was decorative or if it was meant for little girls to learn to do chores (probably both…).

  3. I wonder how Chukchi and Yakut people do their laundry today. They can’t have any running water because the pipes just burst instantly, and they have saunas instead of baths…

  4. Why was soap so expensive? It’s technically so easy to make… They have more potash than they knew what to do with and all they needed to add was any oil or fat, no?
