Criticizing Israel is perfectly ok, as long as you criticize it in the context of their enemies.
You can’t criticize Israel for reacting to terror tunnels, rocket fire and actual lynchings of “settler” families because you don’t think they “deserve” to live there, while completely babying and coddling the terrorist regimes surrounding and actively attacking them and making them react in certain ways to save lives (of Arabs and Jews BTW).
Blind anti-criticism based on religion or “Jews can do whatever they want because they belong in Israel” is very rare and even that is usually challenged to be justified with facts.
the left and in this case a vast majority of liberals criticize Israel in a vacuum, as if they border Canada and England and sit there fiddling their thumbs thinking “what brown child can we arrest today”, and then justify is by claiming “look at me criticizing Israel because everyone deserves criticism”, yet back off completely when asked about the countries bordering Israel and the regimes who put it on their flags to destroy Jews from the river to the sea. They never asked what was a four year old doing cutting chains on the border fence shielding a terrorist.
I agree Israel should be criticized, and it constantly and disproportionately is. I don’t agree that most of today’s criticism is fair or fairly distributed, because once you fairly distribute it, it becomes obvious how minuscule Israel criticism becomes when put in context with the entire Middle East. I’m not even talking about it being the only functioning democracy, I’m talking about what happens when it’s directly targeted, demonized and attacked.
