  8. Pro tip: Once you cover them in a salt-rub for about 30 minutes most of the bitterness goes away along with the liquids. Also, cover the eggplants in a cup of tomatoe paste, crushed garlic and 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil (or beef tallow), and put in the oven on medium-low for like 30 minutes until soft. (Why did I add a recipe in a comment? I’m sorry lol I can’t help it).

I don’t like American pancakes, they’re WAY too sweet and almost always underdone for my taste, but I can’t understand how you make pancakes without eggs…

Also, it’s especially surprising considering most Americans haven’t seen an herb unless it accidentally fell on their frozen hamburger. I do find it adorable when some people in the UK and Ireland pronounce the letter H as “Heich”, but now that I know why, it also makes perfect sense.

  29. This reminded me of the only healthy cookies I made and liked. If I remember correctly, They consist of oatmeal, date syrup (Silan), and tahini. You mix like two tablespoons of Silan with a half-cup of tahini, then you take 1/2cup of oatmeal and start mixing it all together until it forms a doe. It’s supposed to be sticky, but not too sticky. If it’s too watery to hold its shape - add more oats, and if it’s too solid - add more tahini, You can also add a pinch of salt to taste. You don’t even have to bake them, I needed up eating half of the first batch before putting it into the oven. You put it in the oven in 180C (300F if I’m not mistaken…) for like 10 minutes or so. You can’t go wrong with baking times because none of the ingredients are bad for you raw, and you just have to figure out how dry you like your cookie. 😍

  97. I tasted samosa in Israel. They made the version without the baking powder. If you like it crispy it’s nice but what they do is soak it in Dahl and so the idea is probably that the samosa remains dry and totally sealed like instant tortalini, but once you put a sauce on it and soak it in it it tastes like huge meat raviolis. I had an Uzbek friend whose favorite food was Uzbek samosa. Her eyes would glaze over when she talked about samosa from her childhood, so I get it.

  147. I completely forgot there were actually rinette(?) apples. As a kid in Russia, we had rinette apple trees growing all over our neighborhood. The apples were SO GOOD!!! I didn’t eat much as a kid, and Russia either didn’t have any fruit at all, or had awful excuses for fruit, so finding small (child-size), ripe, mildly sweet apples directly from the tree was like heaven. I will never forget picking them straight from the tree and eating. Back then the only “fruit” available were bananas like twice a year (which I LOVED!!!), and an insane array of berries. Sometimes we had persimmons that would give you such dry mouth that I’d go throw up straight after and watermelons that gave me a stomach ache for some reason… So these apples were AMAZING and I miss them. They’re definitely not like normal apples. It’s also one of very few good memories I have from my abusive mom. 🥲

I remember because I commented under that video as well… it makes me sad that even when most people already know the truth, we still don’t talk about it… the Irish have had such difficult lives… the Brittish elite experimented on them long before they went to colonize other peoples… it’s so tragic and it makes me so angry.. and regular Brits were also being exploited..

I understand why YOU would use green food coloring to recreate HER original recipe, but honestly, I’d use the recipe for Limonana (iced-lemon-mint drink popular in the Middle East) and just experiment with adding the cucumber and experiment using different green herbs for the color. Why did she really need a green food coloring in the first place? That’s what I find weird. (Then again, your mashed cucumbers looked beautifully green and you added an overkill amount of food coloring that wasn’t even the same green…).
