... A firearm - legally purchased or not - is still a deadly weapon. How did a six year old kid get hold of it ? Why was it left loaded and easily available to a child of ANY age ? The right to bear arms is not a license to be apocalyptically careless ...

@SMcCaskill I do INDEED understand the Biblical concept of Apocalypse - if that is your meaning, but the word CAN be used for any sufficiently big, stupid and exasperating issue that one needs to express. Like it or not, it's just another word - like disastrous, Vast or Titanic ... that's modern English, and it's used (often) in a sardonic fashion - get used to it !

According to NBC News (specifically Lester Holt) - this is how I heard it : After the gunshot, another school employee (I assume after the shot was heard - they did not say) - took the gun away and restrained the child. Once again, I assume (because it wasn't stated) that the child halted in his action, possibly in shock at what he did, and the police were called. Much of this has NOT been stated clearly. The investigation is ongoing, and that usually means the cops are picking and choosing what the tell the media ... this is a SIX YEAR OLD KID, and I can't believe he had any REAL concept of what his actions would do. I'm a cynical person by nature, but I'm not THAT cynical ... 🥺

@me-michelle9894 Yes they have. The Founders did not want America to have a Standing Army - which left the nation's defense in the hands of Citizen Soldiers. Now - with the world's biggest military, citizen soldiers are obsolete. I think the REAL problem is that some Americans fear their own Government ... they THINK they'll have to rebel all over again.
