It's a great quote. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know who actually said it. Some say Sinclair Lewis, others say Huey Long, but I have not yet found a definitive source for these prophetic words ... still, thanks for saying it in your comment !

@edwardcraven9195 I am familiar with Chris Hedges' work. What I was saying is that the quote was NOT his, despite him using it in a program. I was talking about who ORIGINALLY said it, not just who quoted it.

@dianemitchell1717 That IS what I had always thought too ... evidently, there is some uncertainty, however. Not that it really matters, you can find out what I mean online ...
