... SOME Americans think Allies are unnecessary, when the US has the biggest Military on Earth ... but sometimes - over time - things change. Where is the Empire of Rome, where are the Ottomans, the British Empire - once the mightiest in the World is barely a shadow of it's old self, the Hapsburg, Imperial Russia - all gone or dying ... America is a Democratic Republic by strict definition, but it IS an Empire of the modern kind, and NO Empire in history - regardless of it's political flavor - has lasted forever. The American Empire will not be an exception. Some day, she'll need friends - she'll need allies. The ridiculous concept of American Exceptionalism is no more real than the doctrine of Discovery, or Manifest Destiny ... If there IS a " God " HE/SHE/IT does not Favor America anymore than HE/SHE/IT favors Canada, Britain, Slovenia or Borneo ... HE/SHE/IT wouldn't even know the United States was gone if the Yellowstone Volcano blew it off the map ! This is not intended to be an anti-American screed - though long and boring it may be ... Just a reminder from an outsider that you are NOT special in the greater scheme, NONE of us are special ... It's just that MOST of us are aware of that reality ...☮
