... This dude is typical of the Right - Welfare for the Wealthy and Tough luck to the Working Class. The level of wage compensation has been essentially hobbled for the last forty-odd years, but the cost of living for wage-earners under a threshold (that varies almost yearly) has never really slowed ... the demented cost of buying a house or paying rent is forcing some people into eating less and others into bankruptcy, all the while we are told that our economy needs us to buy, buy, buy and still manage to save for retirement - and NOW this guy doesn't want us to retire at all !

@jasongaylor2232 ... Absolutely true ! ... I am retired now, but the last 45 years was a struggle for my wife and I, we BOTH worked full time all those years. We bought our first and only house in 1980, raised two kids, owned a single car at a time, let it die of old age and stayed home a lot. We also saved everything we had left over - when there WAS something left over ... Yes, my friend, I DO get.

Within the first minute Thom brings up the most obvious point in this argument : There are X number of Jobs available and that number, despite gains - when aligned with growth in the population, - is ultimately finite ... in simpler terms, there are only so many jobs available - AND only so many of them pay a decent wage. Why should young people have to wait for the better jobs, just so that employers don't have to spend money on training, - and at the same time, aging bodies must be forced to labor for greater periods, and withhold the good jobs from the young. The country needs a next generation to do the next generation's earning and taxpaying. The country ALSO needs the next generation to do the next generation's consuming, rent paying, goods & services buying, voting and national defense.
