... Sound's like high-time that America started to take a REAL look at their 200+ year-old Constitution and see if perhaps this dramatically different American Experiment needs a good stirring and maybe a few new ingredients. No form wisdom is eternal, and no set of rules can serve in a constantly changing game. The Founders - however good may their collective intentions have been, lived in a different world: A new British invasion was always a possibility, and with no standing army - (as was their intent) - a well armed and largely uncontrolled populace made sense. Now, with the World's biggest and best-armed military, citizen soldiers are unnecessary ... EXCEPT that too many Americans are afraid of their own Government - and THAT'S not a good thing, is it ? ... There is ALSO the fact, that the Founders where all White MEN who owned other human beings, and treated them like trading cards, occasionally fathering children with them - but NEVER acknowledging those offspring. ONLY the class to which the Founders belonged could vote, and that DID NOT include the Women of that same class. Generally speaking, any intent reading of the American Constitution will reveal loop-holes that were not an issue in the late Seventeen Hundreds, (slavery and inequality based on gender, property-ownership and religion) but have become more obvious through the intervening years. So far as I am aware, in those two centuries that have passed, only seventeen amendments have been enacted. Perhaps it's time for another look !
