Musk grand plan makes about as much sense as Bradbury's ' Martian Chronicles ' ... the BIG differences are that Ray Bradbury wrote his masterpiece in the 1950's AND even he was aware that it was only a Fantasy based upon the much earlier observation of Percival Lowell - who died in 1916 ... Musk, who has had the benefit of the far more recent data of NASA's Pioneer and Viking missions and the interpretations of scientist such as Carl Sagan should know better ! Antarctica, for all of it's challenges, is on Earth and within reach of rescue missions with a relatively easy - if intensive effort. A rescue mission to Mars would be too big an undertaking. Cost aside, just reaching the planet in time to save anyone would be virtually impossible ... despite the fanciful name he chose to give it, Starship is NOT something out of Star TREK, and Elon Musk is more like Donald Trump than Enrico Fermi ! ...
