... While we're all being so impressed by Elon Musk's latest brainstorm, is anybody considering this : who is going to pay for all the infrastructure that would be required ? Supporters would say it will " Pay for itself " and - given a very long time, it MAY or may not work out that way ... but if it doesn't, it's a write off and - one way or the other - the taxpayer will get to foot the bill ... progress is fine, but we pay for the losses, not Elon.

... I think that the time to talk about accomplishments is AFTER they've been made ... I'm not saying that imagination is without value, I'm just saying that promises are far easier to make than they are to keep - here in 2023, Arthur C. Clarke's visions of 2001 seem a wee bit over-bright, No ?
