Scorpio Way Not enough backing - obviously. He BECAME an Independent because he saw the failings of the Democrats AS WELL AS the Republicans, and he only ran as a Democrat because they are (somewhat) closer to his own Ideology. The Delegate System failed Sanders AND America, by choosing Biden over Bernie - so too did all of the other unsuccessful Candidates from Harris to Bllomberg ... and Fucking Obama - don't get me started ! ... to paraphrase Carlin " It's a big club ... and BERNIE AIN'T IN IT " !

@funkychicken370 All valid points, but NO SINGLE CANDIDATE was trying to cover EVERY base ... when you are trying to introduce something like Universal Health Care in a Country like the US, you HAVE to compromise. Baby Steps are more effective than big Clodhopper Stomps ! Sanders has ALWAYS been fighting an uphill battle, and MOST Americans don't actually WANT a Third Party, so why should he have saddled up THAT dead horse ?
