  11. No Nation should consider ITSELF as " Exceptional " for a couple of very good reasons. When an outside ally sees you as Exceptional, the word is seen as complimentary and implies a positive character and a worthy role model. BUT when a Nation sees ITSELF as Exceptional, it seems to imply to the Citizenry that THEY are somehow chosen by God ( sound familiar ? ) and as such, are above the judgement of their fellow man ... and have been elevated into a loftier sphere ... AND are EXCEPTED from the same set of rules as everyone else. No man is an island, and no Nation is a " Shining City on a Hill " - Rome found that out. So did Britain and France and Germany. One Nation under God ? ... More like one Nation out of Many ... some days you win, some days you lose.

In all likelihood, it has its origins - (or Oranges to Donald Trump) - in a lifetime of Money, the Power that COMES from HAVING money AND control over other people and from having a Father who by all accounts was a very domineering role model.
