  1. I like to speak with those of whom I disagree, because I not only want to know what they think, but why they think it. However, for this to work, it requires discussing / debating in good faith. The problem I run into constantly, is those who are tribal and these are particularly difficult to get anywhere. When one is ideologically driven, good faith VERY often goes out the window, because it is impossible to accept criticism. Bad faith, specious and straw-man arguments, along with obfuscating direct answers ends up driving me out of the conversation. That person will likely then just go back to their bubble and say how I ran away, because I cannot sustain my position. The truth is, THEY cannot argue their position, so make conversation impossible and then call it a win.
