I not only dig Jordan Peterson, but appreciate his passion for communication of ideas.
Unfortunately, I think that passion can get mislabeled as anger or aggression and the short-sided view of some listeners discount the message. Those very listeners are the ones that most need exposure to his way of thinking about ideas. The world could, and is indeed, learning a lot from this man and is becoming a better place as a result. I have watched / heard many, many, MANY hours of his speaking, so have heard many of his ideas expressed many times. The thing is, and has mentioned this several times, he doesn't so much lecture, as just have a conversation.
As a result, those ideas get expressed with different examples and in a completely different way, as he actually selects individual members of an audience with whom he is speaking. Those people know this, as he looks directly at them to make sure he is engaging in meaningful conversation. If he is not, he changes or steps up his game, just as anyone would in a one on one conversation with their best friend, wife, husband, son or daughter.
He is always "working it out" during his talks, so the idea is continually fresh...... great stuff Jordan :)
EDIT: @34:40 is a perfect example of how Jordan "thinks" aboot what he's saying (not a type-o, silly). During the question posed, he pauses for over 10 seconds and decides not to speculate. He does not venture out into uncharted expression without at least a good road map of where he wants to go. If he hasn't spent serious consideration to a specific idea, he will not try to express it and then just hope for the best. I personally think, he likes to examine up to about 90% of an idea and then "work it out" in conversation. He knows the beginning and the end, but prefers the real-time experience to do the math.
This world would have far fewer instances of hostility and violence, if we ALL thought before we spoke.
NOTE: Jordan is constantly pulling his wedding ring up and down his finger. I have seen this in all of his videos, but not yet figured out if it is a "sign" as to his mood or if he is pushing his limits of knowledge or whatever.... curious.
