  1. I believe there to be a universal "truths" or "facts" in life and to which Sam also subscribes. I think this because the VERY first humans to occupy earth did not have a bible telling them the difference between good and bad. So if that human left his / her cave and found an animal that was looking for food, that human would instinctively categorize the situation as "bad" and attempt escape. Should he / she be successful in escaping this animal and survive, it would be categorized as "good". If he got eaten, he would not categorize anything... he'd just be lunch :( That human without ever hearing a story, communicated with another human or having read text to define what is "good" or "bad", remained alive. It makes no difference how that sense is perceived within the mind or passed on to another human, it is understood as a fundamental truth. Since he /she lives another day by paying attention to the environment and having physical skills, such an act would then be categorized as a "fact" of life. Even with NO bible, prior to the described event, that human knows a fundamental truth and cannot possibly be denied. Jordan wants to assign a path of knowledge that led that human to see "good" as fact. Maybe Jordan sees the events leading up to the attack as this "path", but it was INSTINCT that told the human to run. The events leading up to that instinct to run, are just signs of how to categorize a thought process be more alert in the future. Neither Sam nor I need to believe in or assign credit to a god to recognize bad or good in this context. Now, as life progresses, there are going to be things that will seem bad or good in the short term, yet prove to be a valuable lesson in the future and where we discover wisdom.
