  1. Regardless of how one feels about Nixon, it is nearly always short-sided to boil a person down to a single act. There are certainly some things people have done to be worthy of casting ALL other good things aside, but Nixon is but one more example of how a dog cannot change his spots. What made Pete Rose an AMAZING baseball player was his insanely competitive drive and always pushing harder and harder. Had either of these two men, like soo many others in history, just been able to stop and truly grasp the big picture, a sincere apology and genuine contrition would have all but guaranteed forgiveness and a more balanced view of the roles in their respective fields. Sadly, we cannot re-write history and hindsight is 20/20!
