They are a private business, so can charge whatever they want. If they go out of business as a result, that was a choice they MADE! Eat somewhere else!

@shawncarter7188 ... Exactly. I have no issue whatever with how much money a business makes or charges, as I have the freedom to choose another restaurant or business, if I feel like it. Businesses are not all conspiring to raise prices or rip anyone off, as it only takes ONE to under cut them and they will get that business instead. I was co-owner of family business for 35 years and we always struggled VERY much on the consideration of raising prices. We had to weigh a lot of factors and when we did, we always got a certain percentage of push back, but was something we had to do, in order to keep the doors open and not fire employees. . McDonald's can charge for the bags, but the backlash from public will determine if it was a wise move or not.

@markdsm-5157 ... Run a business, as I have and you will have a much different take on this. Businesses don't just raise prices for the hell of it, as they weigh a TON of factors and have to weather bad times (take lockdowns, for instance). If ANY company cannot make enough profit to sustain a low in business, as their margins are too small, they go out of business and a TON of people lose their jobs, the building lease is lost and dominoes into a bunch of very negative effects. . A business has to make determinations on a BOATLOAD of factors and if they don't charge enough, they collapse on slow times. If they charge too much, they collapse because customers go elsewhere. The idea that they all just laugh on the way to the bank is a monumental lack of understanding of what is involved in running a business.
