  2.  @jameshildebrand907  ... I know this to be true, as my own mother has a terminal case of [three letter affliction] and has not / will not consume any information that does not confirm her bias. Over the years, her inability to have even remotely rational discussions on social / political issues has caused a huge strain on our relationship. Ignoring politics does not work, because she will bring them up and shout me down, if I try to "address errors" that she says.

There is no question in my mind, that my mom, as mentioned in my previous reply above, will intentionally pick a fight with me, by saying something she knows I will disagree. I support [The Other Guy], so just leaps at the opportunity to shout me down, because knows I will call her out on, let's say... "false things". It is incomprehensible (not hyperbolic) that anyone could support [The Other Guy], yet... both of her sons do. . It is not narcissism with her, but rather so thoroughly convinced of all she has heard, that it is simply not possible to bridge the gap to accepting a challenge to those held beliefs. [gets up off couch now, as the therapist rolls eyes and wants session to end🤣]
