Sean is right. Finding proper treatment is a secondary issue, as getting them the hell off the street brutalizing the citizens is priority one!

@whm_w8833 … That is all well and good, but resources are necessary. Society is best served when people are properly cared for, but we must also consider the resources to do so. We could as a society build all of the infrastructure to deal with all of the issues that plague it, but that expense would create a massive state budget with God knows how many govt employees and citizens would be paying 90% tax rate to support it all. . Nobody wants to say a life is not worth any expense, but the amount of trained, qualified personell and the facilities to do all that treatment, would leave that society all in poverty working to support that system. . Nobody likes to look at it this way, but we simply cannot financially afford all that 😕

That said, if these criminals were asked very politely how much money the taxpayers should give them to suffer in a 5 star rehab center with 24 hr room service of 1st class meals, to go along with voluntary drug treatment for a period of time to be determined by the criminals themselves…. they would probably say it is acceptable. Of course, the taxpayer would then be obligated to provide all expenses paid lifetime housing of thier choice for a period of no less than 45 years. . They would also get to decide of they want to live in a home that is already occupied by the owner and his / her family, so that family would be required to continue paying the mortgage and move into slum housing in the worst crime neighborhood in the city. . I think that “might” meet the approval of the democrats, but we would have to sweeten the deal a bit more, just to be fair.
